Step 2

APPLICATION PROCESS IN DETAIL

Creating Your USAJobs Profile

Creating a USAJobs account is the foundation of your TSA application. A fully completed profile ensures your documents attach correctly, your resume is formatted properly for federal HR systems, and your application status updates display without errors. In order to setting up an account correctly, the candidate’s profile must include the following:

  • Accurate personal information (full legal name, contact details, citizenship).
  • Work experience, imported or uploaded in federal-style format.
  • Saved preferences, such as travel availability and job types.
  • Completed eligibility questions, which help filter the jobs you qualify for.

Important Tip! You must use the same email address throughout all TSA application steps (USAJobs, Talent Acquisition System, HRAccess) to avoid mismatched accounts.

Moreover, USAJobs allows you to create automatic notifications, setting alerts for keywords like “TSA,” “Transportation Security Officer,” “TSO,” “Security Assistant,” adding location filters (e.g., airports near your city), and choosing daily or weekly updates. This ensures you never miss an opening—TSO announcements open and close quickly, especially for high-demand airports.
